10 Lakeside Athletes Named To USA Swimming Scholastic All-America Team

USA Swimming released the 2018 Scholastic All-America Team and 10 Lakeside athletes are being recognized for their hard work in the pool and classroom over the last year. The program is offered to high school students starting at the end of their freshman year. To be eligible for USA Swimming’s Scholastic All-America team, swimmers must have achieved a Winter Junior Nationals Time Standard between Aug 16, 2017 and Aug 15, 2018, and also achieved a 3.5 GPA for the previous academic year.

Historically, Lakeside has done really well within this program, finishing top 5 in the country for the number of Scholastic All-Americans on multiple occasions. As a team, having multiple swimmers receive Scholastic All-American honors is a wonderful reflection on the athletes, families, and the team. This year, Lakeside had 3 more Scholastic All-Americans than the rest of the state, combined. We could have had 5 other athletes named to the Scholastic All-America team as well, but they failed to apply.

The following swimmers have been named to USA Swimming’s Scholastic All-America Team:

Alex Blom
Alex Brehm
Jake Burd
Annabel Crush
Conner Kang
Emily Lenihan
Ellie Masterson
Jackson Mussler
Hunter Tapp
Lauren Thompson
