Eleven Lakeside Swimmers Set For US National Championships

Eleven Lakeside swimmers will be competing at the 2019 Phillips 66 US National Championships this week. The meet starts on Tuesday, July 31st and runs through Sunday, August 4th in Palo Alto, CA. Four current swimmers (Annabel Crush, Claire Donan, Emily Lenihan, and Hunter Tapp) and seven Lakeside alumni (Keefer Barnum, Brooke Forde, Clayton Forde, Aldan Johnston, Kennedy Lohman, Asia Seidt, and Coley Sullivan) will be competing this week.

This national championship meet serves as a qualifying meet for the 2019 FINA Junior World Championships in August. The top 18 & Under swimmers will be competing for a chance to represent Team USA in Budapest, Hungary. Boys born 2001-2004, and girls born 2002-2005 are eligible to make the team. Based on the selection criteria, Crush, Lenihan, and Tapp are all eligible to make the team this summer.

Annabel Crush, Brooke Forde, and Asia Seidt have already competed for Team USA this summer, internationally. Crush competed with the National Junior Team in Vancouver, Canada at the Mel Zajac Jr International meet. She picked up two Bronze medals in the 50 and 100 backstroke. Seidt competed at the World University Games in Naples, Italy. She broke the 200 backstroke meet record in the semi-finals and went on to win the Silver Medal. Forde just returned from Gwangju, South Korea where she competed at the 2019 FINA World Championships. She finished 9th in the world in the 400 IM.
