Lakeside’s Emily Lenihan was invited to attend USA Swimming’s National Select Camp as one of the nation’s top young swimmers. The four day camp is sated for October 10-13 at the US Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO.

Emily is one of the top 48 USA Swimming athletes selected for this elite camp. Swimmers are selected from the SWIMS database of top times during the 2019 qualifying period. The fastest three athletes in each Olympic event, ranging from age 14-16, are invited. Additionally, 6 swimmers with the highest IMX scores are also invited to attend. Emily was invited for her 200 backstroke, proving herself as one of the nation’s top up-and-coming young swimmers. She earned her 2020 US Olympic Team Trials cut in that event this summer.

A strategic element of this camp is teaching and reinforcing the National Team culture which has always been a key part of the USA’s success in international competition. During the camp, Emily will experience the day-to-day routine of a National Team athlete. She wiill utilize the state of the art training facilities and resources that the Olympic Training Center has to offer. The attendees will learn from top professionals about post-race recovery, psychological training skills, nutrition, and race strategy.
